Erika + Larry | Gathers Plantation Engagement Session

In the spring of 2013 Larry accepted a local job in Covington, Georgia.  That was the first time he saw her and thought to himself, "She is way out of my league."  However, he still wanted to talk to her since she was going to be his coworker.

One day she was at work, off the clock, working on her truck and right then is when Larry decided that he was going to make the effort of getting to know her.

He helped her with her truck and got it running just right.  After that day he was never able to work with her due to their conflicting schedules for almost two months.  In June Larry was off work from both of his jobs and rode past their work.  He noticed she was there.  He turned in so he could have the opportunity to talk to her more.  It sounds a little stalker-ish but he didn't meant it that way. They had a long talk getting to know each other and they continued to talk from that point on.

In June of 2013, Larry stopped by Erika's work to drop off a cookie cake just for her since she was working on her birthday and having a rough day there.  Ever since then he has committed himself to making sure she had someone there for her to talk to and show her the love she deserves.

Erika + Larry will marry at Gathers Plantation in May 2015!  I can't wait to witness the love!

Happy Tuesday y'all!

When the Elf came to visit. . .

I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas.  We sure did!  It seemed different than all of our Christmas' past.  This year RyAnne is older and understands the reason we celebrate.  She knows that Santa is real, Samantha is his helper elf and that Jesus was born on this very special day.  The night before Christmas she was having a hard time falling asleep.  She was filled with so much excitement!

She came walking down the stairs the next morning, very slowly.  I met her at the steps and let her know that Santa was here!!!  Her face lit up and she bolted down the last couple of stairs.  I captured her expression as she noticed the gifts Santa had left for her.  Pure joy!  She studied the wrapping paper from the North Pole.  It was different than all of the other paper.  RyAnne was so patient.  She waited for her Daddy to make his way down stairs.

Trey and I sat in the living room watching RyAnne open the gifts from Santa.  We watched her expressions of amazement and her continual "Thank you!"  After opening all of her "Santa" gifts, she looked at them and squealed, "I WAS a GOOD girl!!!!"  Trey and I looked at each other, both with a smiles from ear to ear and tears in our eyes.  Then we told here there were more from Mommy + Daddy.  She couldn't believe it.  This year she got everything on her list. . .well, except a horse!  lol  Not ready for that one yet!!! :)

You might be wondering. . .Where are all the photographs???  Well, other than capturing her initial reaction after seeing her gifts from Santa, I didn't take a single photograph with my camera.  I just wanted to take it all in!

I do have photographs of her seeing her elf!  At the end of November, Samantha, our Elf, showed up on the door step. RyAnne was very happy to see her. We talk about her elf throughout the year, reminding her that she's watching out for good behavior. :)

She was so happy she waved at her and started talking to her.

And being as careful as she could be not to touch her, she picked up the box to show her off to Olivia and her cousin Haley.

The next morning Samantha helped herself to RyAnne's M&M's.  :)

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Shooting Film. . .

About three weeks ago, I purchased a Canon EOS A2 film camera.  I have been very inspired by my friend Whitney Huynh and Miriam Fincher.  Whitney shoots film and Miriam wants to learn how.  Seeing the amazing things Whitney is doing had me inspired to learn!

It's really not that different than shooting manually with a digital camera.  .  .EXPECT, you can't see what you just photographed until about two weeks later when the film is processed and scanned!  lol  This about made me crazy waiting!

I love the instant gratification of digital.  I love that I can come home after a shoot and upload a sneak peek photo. . .not so with film.

But when I opened my first roll of film and took a breath in, the smell of the film reminded me of the good ol' days.  Oh! And the grain is just divine!

Yesterday, I photographed a lovely Equine Styled Shoot.  I shot film + digital.  Can't wait to share more with y'all!
Merry Christmas!

Kara + Nick | Piedmont Park Engagement Session

The day before I met with Kara + Nick I heard on the radio that the Ferguson trial was about to go down and there would be picketers in a park in Atlanta.  I was a little freaked out!  I immediately called Kara with my concern.  I later realized the radio DJ was talking about Woodruff park and not Piedmont.  The day of there session, it looked like t-total poo outside.  It was just dreary and yuck.  I was ready to cancel and reschedule.  We ended up meeting at the park and I'm so glad we did!  It turned out to be a gorgeous evening in Atlanta with these two!

Kara met Nick at Georgia Southern University and were good friends for years. After Nick transferred to GA Tech he asked her to go to formal with him. They started dating shortly after. Kara knew he was the one when he lied about coming to her 21st birthday party. He said he couldn't come because of a prior engagement.  She was sad he couldn't make it but understood.  She went out for dinner with some friends, and looked up and he was standing there.  :)

After Kara's birthday they would travel to see each other every other weekend.  After over 4 years of long distance and driving back and forth to see each other, Kara moved to Atlanta!

In April Kara had Spring Break.  (Perks of being a teacher!)  Her + Nick made plans to go to New York City to visit their friends.  New York is such a magical place to Kara.  They saw the Broadway show Pippin, walked around Times Square, and went to some cool bars and restaurants.  On that Thursday of their trip, while their friends were at work, Nick said he wanted to walk around Central Park.  When they got to Central Park, Kara suggested they get pretzels. This wasn't a part of Nick's plan!

He then had Kara pick out a bridge on their map and they walked to it. Once they got to Bow Bridge they watched the people rowing their boats and the swans. After a few minutes Nick asked Kara if she wanted to be with him for the rest of her life. I said, "Of course!" Then he got down on one knee and proposed.

Kara + Nick I can't wait to photograph your beautiful wedding day at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center!

Happy Thursday y'all!
Love.
