I'm so excited to share Eliza's newborn session this morning! I've been photographing this couple for years and now they are a family of three! These two made the most beautiful baby girl and it was an honor to photograph her cute, little newness. Eliza Taylor was born on January 9th weighing 6 pounds and 7 ounces - so teeny and sweet! She was very alert during our session and I was able to get some great photos of her pretty blues.
18 Week Hump Day bump date. . .
Today we kept RyAnne out of school for the first part of the morning so she and Olivia could hear baby “R’s” heart beat at my checkup. I love seeing my girl’s eyes light up when they hear that sweet little thumping! It’s the most fabulous thing in the world to hear it and know my little one is doing well in there. The rest of my appointment went down hill quickly. As soon as I lay down on the table, my midwife asked me to lift my shirt so she can put the heart monitor on my belly. The FIRST thing she does is poke her finger right through my herniated belly button! OUCH! And how RUDE! I know it has to be all over my “chart” that I have a hernia because I have mentioned it at every appointment - well, expect this one. I was so upset that she didn't ask me about it before poking around. It’s obvious it’s herniated and now it’s sore. Thanks lady!
Then we got on the conversation about working out. She told me I shouldn’t be lifting weights heavier than 5-10 pounds. I brought up that I was doing 30 pound curls, 60 pound tricep pull downs, 60 pound lat pulls and 75 pound bench presses with no pain. So she decided to hike her estimate up to, “Well, I guess you could lift around 20 lbs.” OMG, it’s beyond frustrating! She didn’t seem to be the budding bit of health so I don’t know how credible she is. This was my first time meeting this midwife and I’m freaking out!
It’s not easy taking advice from someone like her with a horrible beside manner and contradicting estimates. I know every pregnant woman is different - body, mind and soul - and it must be hard to calculate these things. I just wish I could find a practice that considered connecting with their patients and making them feel comfortable. After all they are delivering our next family member!
The last thing we discussed, which she DID find on my chart, was how big Olivia was when she was born - 10 pounds, 10 ounces. She said she was concerned that I might end up with Gestational Diabetes and that she wanted to go ahead and schedule my glucose test, TODAY! We weren’t prepared to hang around for an additional hour after waiting 45 minutes to be seen. So, I get to do that next week.
I have been a crying mess, breaking out in tears all day, hyperventilating style and Olivia is trying her best to make me laugh! I have been so excited about this appointment and hearing our baby’s heart beat, what a kill joy!
I have been working out and eating so well this pregnancy, and to hear all these things just really makes me feel like I’m failing. I didn’t leave with much positive from her. I did contact one of my sweet clients and ask her for a referral to the practice that delivered her baby girl. After speaking with the front desk lady, she gave me so much helpful information and stayed on the phone with me answering all of my one hundred thousand, crazy lady, pregnant questions! lol So while, this day has pretty much been the crappiest feeling day, it is ending on a good note. I think I found a new practice!
Olvia is this many. . .
Yesterday was just nuts at the Robbins' house. Trey and I were awakened at the early hour of 5:00am with RyAnne getting sick. . .in our bed. Poor baby. Olivia's Three Year session was on schedule for that same day and there was no rescheduling. We are on a time frame here! She was sick too with a cold, sniffles, SNOT. Oh, lots of snot. I kept the tissue box right next to me during her shoot. So while her face is a little puffy from the yuck I absolutely LOVE how her session turned out. I still can't believe she is going to be THREE next month. Holy moly! I sure do love being her mommy. She is the funniest little girl. Always making us laugh! She says the silliest things, like, "Hey momma, show me dis'!" when she is about to do something awesome and wants us to watch her. She sings, "Do you want to build a snowman?" and "Santa Clause is Coming to Town" and knows almost all of the lyrics. She's obsessed with super hero's, cars, trucks, trains, baby dolls and making me the perfect cup of coffee from her toy coffee machine. She is learning how to ride her tricycle and climbs on EVERYTHING! Even the dressing room clothes hooks. Eek! She asks me all the time, "Am I the baby?" Kinda makes me sad to think that very soon she won't be anymore but I know she will be a very good big sister to the new little one. She's hardly afraid of anything and loves her doggies, Chloe, Lulu and Roxie Bum Bums <---Olivia came up with the Bum Bums part. lol And she wants to be just like her big sister, RyRy. Happy early birthday doll baby!
Here is how I made my DIY heart. . . The heart is made from foam board I purchased at Home Depot. I found it in the insulation section. I drew a heart shape on it with a marker and started cutting it out with a razor knife. To cut out the holes for the lights, don't laugh, I used a Crayola marker. The end with the cap is perfect! lol I pushed the cap right through the foam. Add red spray paint and pop the lights in! Olivia's outfits are from Old Navy.
Hump Day Bump Dates are back!
When I was pregnant with Olivia I started doing Wednesday Bump dates. . .Like Hump Day but Bump Date! lol And guess what day it is??? (said in my best camel voice!) Yep! Today Olivia and I are taking it slow, enjoying a fresh set of crayons and box that held my new maternity pillow<----- Which made my night so much more comfy!
Next up on the to-do list, I have got to finish up my meal planning and grocery list for next week. I'm trying super, duper hard to not gain t00000 much pregnancy weight this time around. When I was pregnant with Olivia, I was working out and doing amazing! Then at 20 weeks my belly button herniated. I was doing some crazy things during my workouts that probably would have had my doctor and midwive's head spinning. Eeek! Think pull-ups, abs, planks, pushups. I had NO idea I wasn't supposed to be doing those things. :(
I woke up at 20 weeks pregnant to a purple, bruised belly button and in so much pain. It really put some serious limitations on what I was able to do in my every day life and at the gym. So, I just gave up, purchased a really comfy chair and sat there for the remaining 20 weeks. I gained 60 pounds. Yikes!!! And I was so miserable. Everything hurt. I don't want to go down that road again. So, of course that means, I gotta set some goals and put a plan in place to keep me on track! ;)
- Continue to meal plan.
- Work out SAFELY three days a week. No matter what!
- Drink a gallon of water a day.
On another note, my doll baby, Olivia is about to turn THREE! How?!?!? Her and I have been planning her birthday party and her photo shoot too. :) Can't wait to share!
The big question everyone keeps asking me. . ."Do you know what you're having yet?" And when I reply with, "No, we aren't going to find out this time around." Everyone's eyes get huge with disbelief. lol We are totally at ease with our decision. I don't feel like I have this overwhelming need to know if it's a boy or girl. Although, I keep referring to this baby as a girl I honestly don't know what it is. I think it's just out of habit because I have two beautiful girls already.
Happy 16 week Hump Day Bump Date!
Olivia said, "I'm loving on my baby with my foot." She's too cute!
