Shauna + Patrick | Covington, Ga Engagement Session

covington_ga_wedding_photographers_0024.jpg

I met Shauna through my relationship with her sister and brother-in-law, Ciara and Mark Edge. I went to high school with Mark, almost 20 years ago (holy cow, how is that possible?!) and when him and his wife, had their first baby, I got to photograph their first born, Conner’s newborn session. We’ve kept in touch over the years and I’ve gone on to photograph many family sessions for them. I’ve loved getting to know them! Their babies are INCREDIBLE!! I’m not just saying that either. I really mean it! They have the most joyous children and I know it’s because of how they are raising their babes. . .they are my serious goals!!

When Ciara’s sister got engaged, she suggested Shauna get in touch with me about photographing her wedding. I can’t thank her enough for that kind gesture! When I met Shauna and Patrick for the first time during our consultation, I fell in love with them both! They are the sweetest couple! They shared their proposal story with me and it’s just so romantic!

While in college, Shauna and Patrick met through mutual friends almost 11 years ago. Throughout those years, they remained good friends, seeing each other at annual events. No matter how much time would pass between events, they always hit it off and would pick back up right where they left off, joking and being silly with one another. It wasn’t until they went to a friend’s Halloween party that they finally saw each other in a different light!

Patrick, dressed in jeans and a Batman mask, and Shauna in her handmade Hamburgalar costume (somehow, she wasn’t the only Hamburgalar at the party!), the two hung out and enjoyed each other’s company all night. They parted ways for the evening but ended up meeting back up the next day! While navigating the chaos at the end of Georgia Tech’s homecoming game, Shauna came across Patrick. The night before, Shauna’s interest in Patrick had been peaked but he didn’t know it. After spending time with him, that next day at the game, they became like magnets the rest of the day. That next week they went on their first official date. Although, Shauna almost turned him down - eek! The idea of a “first official date” may have freaked her out a bit but luckily she went! It was immediate chemistry for the two!

They dated for two years and during that time, their love grew for one another. Although, they both had spoken about their future together, Shauna wasn’t convinced of a proposal anytime soon. What she didn’t know, is Patrick was about to blow her mind and give her a surprise of a lifetime!

Shauna’s sister, Ciara, is a chorus teacher. She had been teaching her kids about the play, Aladdin and she saw that the Fox Theatre was offering that show. Ciara, turned it into the perfect field trip for her students and when Shauna found out about it , her love of theater kicked in and she wanted in too! Ciara’s husband, Mark, is a police officer and is friends with the security officers that work at the Fox Theatre. The two surprised Shauna with an invitation for a backstage tour of the Fox Theatre! It turned into to be a huge event for their entire family, as it was also, Shauna and Ciara’s dad’s birthday too! Soon, the entire family joined in but they couldn’t leave Patrick out! Patrick, reluctantly accepted an 8:00am touring of the Fox with Shauna’s entire family.

They arrived, early that morning and began their tour with the head of security as their personal tour guide. They walked through the magnificent rooms and finally found themselves on the roof top in front of the iconic Fox Theatre sign. Patrick pulled Shauna in front of her entire family, he dropped to one knee and asked her if she would marry him! Shauna, shocked and totally elated, began to hug and kiss Patrick - she totally forgot about the ring! Patrick put that gorgeous ring on Shauna’s hand and the two left the Fox Theatre, no longer boyfriend and girlfriend but ENGAGED!!!

As it turns out, Patrick had been working with Shauna’s entire family to come up with the ruse to lure her to the Fox Theatre and share this special moment with them all. Man, he’s good!! Shauna and Patrick, I am so excited for you two and I cannot wait to photograph your big day later this year!

Y’all, I am so fortunate to get to do what I love and work with amazing couples like Logan and Tyler! I met Logan last October at Elizabeth and Dalton’s wedding. Elizabeth is her best friend! We had a blast at their wedding surrounded by their best friends and family! They are so supportive and loving towards one another and you could just feel the love. It wasn’t any different at Logan and Tyler’s wedding - the love was there too.

When I first arrived at their wedding I met Logan’s friend Mary Catherine in the parking lot - she’s so sweet!! As I walked to the back of the main house to start photographing details, I was then greeted by Logan’s best friend and my past bride, Elizabeth! Big Hugs and comments about hair sprayed hair for the second time in less than a year for her! lol Once I got into the house and made my way to Logan - she was getting her hair and makeup all done up. She looked gorgeous and wasn’t even in her dress yet!

The laughter and fun just never ends with these friends! Logan & Tyler, Congratulations! I am so happy for you two and I hope you are having the best time on your honeymoon!

Beth + Cory | Porterdale, Ga. Engagement Session

When Beth walked into that restaurant over four years ago, she had no idea she was having dinner with her future husband, but God has bigger and greater plans than any of us could ever dream up.  Sometimes the most beautiful things are unplanned and happen when you least expect it.

Logan + Tyler | Social Circle Engagement Session

If Logan looks familiar, that because I’ve photographed her beautiful face before! Logan is best friends with Elizabeth and Dalton! Logan and Tyler were both in their wedding that I photographed just last year. I am so excited to get to work them on their big day too!

Logan and Tyler met through social media in November 2014. They became really good friends within just a month of chatting online and decided to meet in person on their first date. They were both young and very shy at that time so Logan brought a friend with her on their date to help break the ice and calm her nerves. Once Logan and Tyler met eyes for the first time, they both felt the sparks! That next month, they became a couple and started dating.

They both love being outdoors, going to bonfires and hanging out with friends. During those times they became so open with one another and always had such a blast. After about a year of dating, they moved in together. They continued to grow as a couple and fell more and more in love.

In March 2018, they went on a couples retreat with their friends, Andrew and his girlfriend, Bridgette. Little did Logan know that this trip was no ordinary trip. This trip was planned out to be the most spectacular trip ever! Tyler had a secret plan! While on a hike, they all decided to go to a waterfall. On the way they saw signs for a swinging bridge. Logan just had to see this swinging bridge! She begged her friends to turn back so they could all experience it together!

They all agreed to head back to the swimming bridge and at that time, Tyler knew this was were he was going to propose! Logan was just so excited to see the bridge that she was oblivious to the whole thing. Logan took off across the bridge first and Tyler followed behind her. Once they got to the center of the bridge, Tyler stopped Logan and asked her to be his wife!!

These two are SO adventurous and their proposal fits their personalities so perfectly! I cannot wait to photograph their big day at Starrsville Plantation this March!!

Congratulations Logan + Tyler!!!

How to prep for your engagement session series - 1 of 2

monroe_georgia_wedding_engagement_photographers-87.jpg

Are you READY for this?! I am SO excited to share this SERIES with you! Being prepared for something you've NEVER done before is HUGE! I know when I go into anything NEW and I am armed with knowledge, while I still might be a little nervous, I feel way less anxiety and more excitement!!! My goal is to get you as prepared as possible so that you feel comfortable and CONFIDENT when you walk into your engagement session with your photographer!

E-sessions are SO important!

During this time with your photographer, you will learn how they pose, how they give you directions, how they communicate with you and this will lead you into being the best and most confident couple on your BIG DAY during your wedding photography!

Let’s just dive right in!!! The first thing most couples ask me when we start talking about their e-session. . .WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?!?!?! This is a very big part of your engagement session! If you are comfortable in your outfits and feel confident with what you are wearing, then you are half way there!

OUTFIT INSPIRATION:

I recommend a maximum of 2 outfits for your engagement session to ensure that we have plenty of time to capture both looks before sunset! During your one outfit change is when I will photograph your rings while we wait! I recommend the following for your engagement session attire:

- Neutrals such as blush, tans, light pinks, faint blues and teals, creams, grays and whites will always result in more of a light and airy look to your images. These colors photograph softer and more romantically!

- If you’re really looking for a soft, feminine look, I recommend a flowing, maxi-length dress or skirt! The movement of this type of fabric photographs beautifully!

- I recommend a more formal outfit and a more casual one, so that you have plenty of variety to choose from later!

- The goal is COORDINATING outfits instead of MATCHING! I also recommend avoiding both of you wearing WHITE as a top. White doesn’t allow for any contrast in your images.

- Guys, I recommend that you avoid patterns that are smaller than a dime! These small patterns can create strange visual effects in a digital camera. Close-toed shoes photograph well, and I recommend avoiding graphic tees and tennis shoes!

- Gals, I recommend that you wear something that flatters the parts of you that you love the most and also allows you to be extremely confident! If you are uncomfortable when you look in the mirror (having to suck in and only like the way you look from one angle), then that probably isn’t the best outfit choice for you. I want you to be really confident in your outfit, because I know that you will love your portraits so much more if you’re not worrying about how your clothes fit!
